This particular Bon-Ton, located outside Jamestown in Lakewood, NY, was a location that I enjoyed in particular while documenting most Bon-Ton stores in the area. It was built during 1997 making use of a former Woolworths to gain access to the Chautauqua Mall. Not much more to say than that, so I shall let the pictures do the talking.
The Bon-Ton was expanded from the former Woolworth's store in Chautauqua Mall yes. However that didn't happen in the 80s it was actually in 1997!! The mall itself has been there since 1971.i was born and raised in the area & live there currently. I was a teenager in the 80s so I remember. Just wanted to clarify that info for you!!
ReplyDeleteOh, okay. I appreciate the correction. I didn't realize it opened that late. Sad to see the mall's continued decline, but not shocking given the landlord. I will warn you that I would not be shocked if the mall closes in the coming years. I also can't help but feel that JCPenney here is a potential candidate for closure. The later is my personal opinion.
