Former Kmart #4867

NOTE: This post comes from outside the blog's coverage area.

The final Connecticut Kmart tour brings us to the community of Southbury. This rare 2-level store was also a heavily remodeled location that was formerly a Jordan Marsh department store. This location had an operational pharmacy and at one point a Little Caesars. The space is currently vacant, but is intended to be subdivided for smaller tenants.

  1. The décor package itself is one of Kmart's nicest in modern times, but it's the extra elements like the wood floors and curved actionways, mannequins, and lit up K emblems on the wall that really make this store.

  2. This store was formerly a Jordan Marsh department store, and the only one Kmart ever repurposed. It is interesting that they used suspended tube lighting despite opening in 1992, as it makes the store look older.

    1. Thanks for that info! And yeah it does seem like the store would been older than that.
