Corry Plaza

With everything going on in the world at the moment, I thought it would be appropriate to take a quick look around at a pharmacy in Corry, PA - and would later revise my plan to basically take a look at the entirety of the shopping plaza it is located in.

All evidence would suggest that this CVS location seen below was a former Revco and that would make sense given this location is part of a community shopping plaza.

While its true you 'quit tobacco' by not selling it anymore, I don't think it is that easy for your customers to quit. But, hey this isn't a bad move; just amusing as CVS quit tobacco in an entirely different way then what most would assume those words to mean.

Comments on my Flickr photostream suggest that the aisle marker signs happen to be a relic from Revco, so that's pretty neat that CVS actually reused them.

And now I pivot this post to focus on the neighbor to this CVS for a second. I have a suspicion that the Save a Lot next door may have been a Kroger at one point. Given that Revco was likely next door, I feel pretty confident in my guess.

It actually did relocate to this spot from an abandoned plaza (as seen below) closer to downtown Corry, so obviously something would of been here prior.

A few pictures of an entirely different shopping plaza closer to downtown Corry that is now mostly abandoned.
Back at the Corry Plaza, we also have a few more pictures to look at:

Former Quality Farm and Fleet; and likely also a former Ames
Former a GC Murphy 5&10 then a Dollar Zone

Former Kmart #3555 & Kmart Express

NOTE: This post comes from outside of the blog's coverage area.

Back in eastern Ohio, we continue our tour of Kmart stores that no longer exist or soon will cease to. This month we feature the Cambridge location- along with my only one experience of a Kmart Express gas station. Cambridge was a typical 90s style store that later would expand to become a supercenter. It was downgraded at the same time as Uniontown, PA and Chillicothe, OH, but did not get K-fresh from what I could see.

We'll start our tour with a look at Kmart Express which would close about a month after I was here from what I understand.

This would of been a PENSKE auto center that was attached to the gas station building. Not sure if the two had an entrance that connected them for customers.

Now for the store itself:

Looks like the typical 90s store. The words super and center used to be on either side of the K though. This was also the case for the garden shop entrance as seen below.

Some money was spent to replace the bakery and deli areas which was unusual for Sears Holdings to do.

Area seen here would of been added in when the store converted into a supercenter. If this store followed the typical '90s format before supercenter expansion, then this area would be open to an electronics department.

The short-term future of the building is uncertain. While Rural King has bought the property, they have yet to open a store here and they even bought the property when Kmart was still open. It seems Rural King has a lot of real estate they have bought, but have yet to do anything with for some reason.
