This McDonald's Lost the Race

They say that everything eventually comes to end. Well that's definitely the case for this once very special McDonald's located just outside the Lycoming Mall in Pennsdale, PA. Though the McDonald's is still here this day, what makes it special is now just a memory....

The current state of the Pennsdale McDonald's location.
Why was this location so unique? One word: Racing. Check out the exterior of this same place prior to it becoming 'eyebrowed' as many as Flickr friends and myself now call it.

Yes, this location was a Nascar-themed location focused to Bill Elliott who, at one time, was the Nascar racer for McDonald's. Sadly, everything you are about to see no longer remains here.

You won't find this welcome sign anymore.

Menu and ordering area.
A once upon time view from the menu area.
Bill Elliott's suit on display. I loved the use of neon this location had at one time.

Got to love this idea of using the restrooms as the pit stop!
Of course McDonald's makes it out of the crash.
Now we look at the area where the car was once on display:

It's such a shame to see another themed McDonald's go down the drain just for it to be replaced by an eyebrow location. They special locations set them apart from the rest of the McDonald's chain, and it feel special to stop at a McDonald's that wasn't your local one. Unfortunately, the eyebrow will continue to devour other classic locations as time moves on.

  1. Such a shame :( Everything has to be "new" and it all has to look the same. Blech.

    1. I hate that thinking too. At least before it would make stopping at this particular location, or other unique locations, a special experience rather than just stopping at another normal McDonald's.

  2. I had donated a Bill Elliott
Championship book of matches to the Mc Donald's.
