Doylestown Target's Bon-Ton Takeover

NOTE: This post comes from outside the blog's coverage area.

With this particular Target in Doylestown, PA having been mostly a former Bon-Ton, my interest in documenting it was apparent. At only 74,500 sq. ft., it is significantly smaller than the average Target, but still manages to get all departments in- although in shrunken forms. Since this location is in a similar size range of my own local former Bon-Ton in Olean, NY, it's a good store to see what could have been- since it would seem the Olean Bon-Ton will sadly be demolished.

  1. The slight difference in flooring height by the pharmacy is strange, but I guess when you inherit an old department store building, some funky things like that may appear.

At 74,000 square feet, that's probably the smallest size space Target should aim for, especially in a suburban area like Doylestown. That's ample room for a selection of a little of everything without sacrificing too much, like you see in the tiny 20,000 square foot Target stores. Overall the store looks nice, and even though this is on the smaller end, it's nice to see Target looking to open more larger stores again.

    1. As strange as the different floor levels and ceiling heights are, I'm glad to see them. Makes the store more unique.

I agree with you on the size. You get too much smaller than this, you won't stock what people expect which in turn could turn them away. I could see where some product was cut, but the basics are were all here.
