Sherrill Tops in Peril

NOTE: This post comes from outside the blog's coverage area.

I'll admit this post's name is a bit of an exaggeration. But having looked up the definition of peril, it does work as this location is among the locations being sold off and becoming Grand Union. Unlike the Cortland store both we and a fellow blogger toured last month, this location in Sherrill was a location that Tops took over from P&C Foods. Both the exterior style of the building and the decor package that Tops gave this location point to that conclusion. In a similar style to what Retail Regents has done over on his blog, we will now dive into my archives for a look at the Tops in Sherrill as seen in December of 2016.

  1. With that shout-out of yours, I can almost expect to see coverage of Rome #587 and Norwich #569 here!

Two things I do have to say with this regards to this store are:

    - This store within the past year or so got new shopping carts to replace the 15 year old ex-P&C Technibilts.

    - The exterior could easily go without a new paint job, as the new Grand Union logo kind of matches the green trim color. I can only hope they don't paint it grey.

    1. I don't have any pics (other than exterior) for those two locations. I think I didn't find them unique enough to visit. I only visited Cortland recently because of the announcement.

Considering this merger deal has been in the works for some time, you have to wonder if they replaced those carts purposefully knowing what would occur. Probably didn't know.

Yeah, the green would work here.

    2. The interiors are really nothing special (Rome is roughly the same as this and Norwich still has the original Tops floor tile). The one in Norwich already had the plaza's name changed to Grand Union Plaza, and it appears they added some new (or freshly refurbished) carts in (while still appearing to have its absurd Kmart Technibilts) according to the pictures on a property listing on the Marcus & Millichap website. I can only hope those carts don't stick around.

    3. That's pretty much what I figured in terms of decor. They certainly moved fast to change that plaza's name.
