Similar to the previously toured Chili Kmart, this Kmart location also appears to have been a '60s built location with Kmart Foods. And it too would expand into the old grocery space to make for a larger store. Although this location did have a cafe at one point, the only special service department operating at the time of my visit was the pharmacy. It appears that this location has been repurposed as a self-storage center.
Indeed it is a 1960s build. Like the Cheektowaga store (which also opened in 1967), this one certainly was renovated in the early to mid 1970s given the facade design.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense. Seems like a number of stores got this facade renovation.
DeleteI also suspect #4207 in Orchard Park (which got demolished for a Lowe's shortly after it closed) was also another one of those that got a 1970s renovation, especially given that it was a Buffalo-area store like this one, #4199 in Amherst and Cheektowaga that also opened in 1967 and were classified as "expanded".
DeleteThat would seem about right to me as well given that that location would of covered the southtowns pretty well.
