Birney Plaza
At first glance, the Birney Plaza would appear to be a normal shopping center. However, it actually is an enclosed strip center- technically making this another mall for the Wyoming Valley. The center was completely overhauled in recent years after Kmart closed its doors. The remodeling likely helped to attract tenants for the vacant Kmart as the space would be subdivided between Shop-Rite and Ace Hardware.
I like all the ceiling treatments. Looks nice.

DeleteI'm really impressed with how well this place cleaned up and how it's come back to life. The last time I was here was right before construction on the new ShopRite began, when the plaza was still fairly empty and the entire place just seemed old and depressing. Definitely a great example of how a little investment can bring one of these mini-malls back to life!
