Former Kmart #9642

August's tour of a Kmart store is of the now former Kmart in Clarion, PA. I previously did a post about the Clarion Mall, which store served as an anchor too. Last I knew, this store is empty and has been since the day it closed back in January 2018. I did not make it to this store's liquidation sale as it was a rough January weather-wise. Here's how the store looked before it closed down:

This was the only Kmart I knew to do something like this

Tile from the Kmart restaurant was intact here

Clarion Mall

Back in the day when many small towns were getting their malls, two anchors seemed to be commonplace: JCPenney and Kmart. This small little mall continues to hold on to these two as anchors despite both chains closing stores. Clearly they must do rather well in Clarion.

The mall itself is small, but has some really nice architecture to it. The main corridor has a slanted roof with windows on the top that face to the east. In my opinion, this mall is quite lively with a good number of stores to it.

Enjoy these photos I took of this charming cute little mall.

A general exterior of the mall. Note that the main entrance uses a Kmart facade.
As is the case with most mall-based Kmart stores, you enter and walk down a hallway to enter Kmart.

We will take a closer look at this Kmart location in a future Kmart post.

Here you can see the mall's windows I mentioned.
Planters!

Looks like a former fountain has been covered over.

No jewelry store here
