After viewing a few Charleston Kmart area stores, I feel its time we look a little west and work our way back. This month's Kmart tour happens to be of the Barboursville location which also served the city of Huntington, WV. The only thing worth noting about the Barboursville Kmart is that this location was among the few that repurposed the former auto center space into a garden center. I actually have a bit of a story to tell with this location I haven't spoken of before, but we will get into that later.
Although I was never confronted about it, apparently somebody had complained to an employee about me taking pictures of this store. I only became aware of this thanks in part to my mother who happened to overhear the conversation occur while checking out a few items at the register. She had waited for me in the front of the store and given me a heads up. In an interesting turn of events, I had already taken all the pictures I wanted and was leaving anyways, so even if I had been talked too it wouldn't of mattered. It did appear that someone was about to try to talk to us, but we were going out the door so nothing was said.
